GLUKOS: SIMPLE INGREDIENTS FOR CLEAN ENERGY

This blog is part of our Fuel Up series, written by our in-house nutritionist. Have questions? Drop us a line at cs@unitedspb.com with the Subject Line "Fuel Up Question".

One of the most popular questions we continually receive is: what is the difference between Glukos and the nutrition product I am currently using? The answer is just as simple as our ingredient list. We use only high-quality, simple and limited ingredients in each of our products. Our products contain absolutely no artificial ingredients, preservatives, colors, or flavors, and still manage to taste great! Complex ingredients are commonly found in most of the sports nutrition products on the market – ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, sucrose – ingredients that have to be digested in order to extract their energy. It is the complicated digestion process, along with artificial ingredients that are usually added to improve flavor, color, texture, or shelf-life, that can lead to some serious stomach distress for many of us.

So where exactly do our colors and flavors come from? For our three signature flavors – fruit punch, lemon, and orange, we utilize fruit oils for flavoring, purple carrot root and beta carotene for coloring, non-GMO corn for our glucose and potassium and sea salt (sodium) for our electrolytes. It’s that simple! We take great pride in our ingredients and the simplicity of our products.

Think about it this way – what about what’s the quickest way to treat dehydration and replace lost fluids from the body? An IV. After many years of research and input from World-Class Athletes, it was decided that all Glukos energy products would be modeled after the idea of an IV. So, what exactly is in an IV? Water, sugar (glucose), and electrolytes (sodium and potassium) – sound familiar? It should!

Nutrition shouldn’t be complicated. Glukos has taken the guesswork out of sports nutrition, and created a truly innovative and game-changing line of energy products that is unlike anything else on the market.

Happy Training,

Jenna Bowers Dietetic Technician, Registered

Jenna was born and raised in sunny Arizona. Sports have been her livelihood and passion since a young age, and her hard work paid off when she received a Division I soccer scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University, where she completed her freshman and sophomore seasons. She decided to hang up her cleats and move back to the desert to complete her education at the University of Arizona, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics. Discovering a serious passion for nutrition, she then went on to earn her Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) certification. Following her retirement from college sports, she has since found a way to channel all of her competitive energy – running and cycling! On any given weekend, you can find her running in a local half marathon or cycling around town. If she’s not racing, chances are she’s cooking, and has been known to whip up a mean dessert or two! In her position at Glukos she enjoys combining two of her biggest passions – nutrition and sports, while having the opportunity to help others to achieve their goals.
